Darryl Stacey - bass

A music graduate of Western University, bassist Darryl Stacey has been a professional musician as a sideman or leader for over 30 years in London Ontario Canada and the surrounding area, working in a wide variety of musical settings from jazz to pop.

He has performed with many local artists and well-known celebrities from across the region, including Jenny Jones, Rich Little, the stars of The Lawrence Welk Show, Don Harron, Gordie Tapp (Hee Haw), and The Harmonicats. He has also shared the stage as an opener or guest with Rob McConnell (Boss Brass), Peter Appleyard, Kevin Turcotte (Great Uncles of the Revolution), Norm Amadio, Carol Welsman, and Dan Hill, with appearances at the Waterloo, Oakville, Sarnia and Ottawa Jazz Festivals, and London’s Grand Theatre, Huron County, and Petrolia Playhouses.

Darryl was the music co-coordinator for the 2002 opening of the John Labatt Centre (now Budweiser Gardens), the Scott Tournament of Hearts Women’s Curling Championship in 1986, and the London International RIBFEST, for an 18 year run.

Darryl’s main career included a lengthy stint as an educator with the Thames Valley District School Board. He was a key member of the house band at London’s iconic jazz club “Maggie's” for the last 11 years of its existence, and was nominated in the Jazz category for the 2017, 2011 and 2009 Jack Richardson Music Awards.

Currently, Darryl secures musical services for corporate and charitable functions, and thoroughly enjoys his time touring with Jeans ’n Classics across North America. In his down time one can often find him sailing the waters of Lake Huron on his classic 30 foot sailing sloop, “JEDI”.
